Success Story: Jeremiah

Jeremiah graduated from Nyamache Life Skills Centre in 2015 after completing the computer studies course. Upon graduation, he joined our Root Start-Up program, which provided him with a computer and the tools to start his first business.

Building a Business from Skills

With this support, Jeremiah secured a small shop, offering cyber services to his local community. Over the years, he expanded - moving to a larger shop, purchasing his own printer, and stocking a range of products including shoes, clothes from Nairobi, and eggs from his own chickens. While cyber services remain the core of his business, he now supports multiple income streams to meet the needs of the local community.

Business has not always been easy. Jeremiah has had to adapt and pivot constantly to overcome challenges. Yet he credits Nyamache Life Skills Centre with giving him the skills, confidence, and opportunity to succeed. The combination of computing, business, and agricultural training, alongside the initial boost from the Root Start-Up program, has enabled him to build a sustainable livelihood and support his family.

Nyamache Life Skills Centre

The Nyamache Life Skills Centre is fully supported by donations to The Boo Charity, as well as income-generating activities run on-site. Students like Jeremiah received their education free of charge thanks to the generous long-term support of Enhanced, based in Poole, UK. Enhanced has sponsored the computing course since 2019, helping it grow into one of our most popular programmes. Local community members now even pay to attend evening business and computing classes.

Alongside computing, we also offer courses in:

  • Dressmaking & Tailoring

  • Welding & Fabrication

  • Hair & Beauty

All students additionally take part in Agri-business studies, ensuring they gain practical and sustainable skills for the future.
