Daisy Returns to Kenya for her Fourth Visit
Long-time supporter and friend of The Boo Charity, Daisy Russell, has recently returned from her fourth visit to Kenya.
Over the years, Daisy has become a passionate advocate for our work, helping to raise funds and awareness here in the UK, while building lasting friendships with our team and communities in Kenya. Her visits have allowed her to witness first-hand progress being made across our projects and the lives being changed through education and opportunity.
This year, Daisy visited all four of the projects we support: KIMMTA, Nyamwanga ECD, Busire ECD and Nyamache Life Skills Centre.
A Special Milestone
One of the highlights of the trip was attending the official opening ceremony of the newly built KIMMTA Hub in Kibera. For Daisy, this was a particularly meaningful moment. Having visited KIMMTA on all her previous trips, she has seen the transformation from a modest, temporary building into a safe, permanent learning hub where children can learn, play and thrive. Seeing the community come together to celebrate this milestone was a powerful reminder of what long-term partnerships and generous supporters can achieve.
Seeing Progress First-Hand
Each visit to Kenya tells a new chapter in The Boo Charity’s story.
This year, Daisy was able to see:
Students developing practical skills at Nyamache Life Skills Centre
Visit previous students who have now set up their businesses in and around Nyamache
Young children enjoying daily education and nutritious meals at Nyamwanga and Busire
Seeing the cooks at all projects use more efficient gas cookers, thanks to multiple donations
Visited the new shambas at both Nyamache and Nyamwanga, which are already thriving
Vibrant football game in the heart of Kibera, sporting new kits thanks to Boscombe Albion and The Steve Bernard Foundation.
Returning year after year also gives supporters like Daisy a unique perspective. Rather than seeing individual projects, they see long-term impact – children growing up, students becoming business owners, centres becoming more sustainable and communities becoming stronger.
More Than a Trip
Daisy first travelled to Kenya over five years ago after being introduced to The Boo Chairty by a close friend. What began as a visit, became something much more.
From the moment she arrived, she felt welcomed by Elisha and the Kenyan team, inspired by the resilience, kindness and determination of the people she met.
Those experiences even helped shape a new direction in Daisy’s own life. After returning from her first visit, she pursued a degree in film production with the ambition of documenting and sharing Boo’s story, helping more people understand the incredible impact being created through education and opportunity.
Thank you
We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Daisy for her continued support, generosity and enthusiasm over the past five years.
