KIMMTA Football Tournament December 2025
The KIMMTA Football Tournament December 2025 has been an extraordinary six-day celebration of sport, mentorship, and community spirit. This year’s event was bigger and more impactful than ever, bringing together hundreds of young players, their families, coaches, and supporters from across Kibera.
With matches played across three grounds - Olympic Primary School, Raila Educational Centre, and the DC Ground - the tournament created an exciting atmosphere throughout the community.
This event isn’t just about football. It brings people together, keeps hundreds of young people engaged during a long school break, and fills the week with joy, learning, and opportunity.
The Tournament
The 2025 KIMMTA Winter Tournament featured three competitive age categories - Boys Under 15, Girls Under 15, and Boys Under 13. Because of their age and to ensure safety and equal participation, all matches were played 7-a-side rather than the standard 11-a-side format.
This year’s event was one of our biggest yet, bringing together an estimated 1,200 young players, supported by 30 coaches and counsellors, 20 rotating referees, and hundreds of passionate parents, neighbours, and community members.
Beyond the matches, the tournament ensures that young people are supported, mentored, and engaged throughout the long holiday break — offering structure, purpose, and inspiration exactly when they need it most.

Empowerment & Mentorship: Building Futures Beyond Football
One of the most impactful elements of the KIMMTA Tournament is the mentorship program, which runs before or after each match.
We currently have 5 trained mentors and 7 dedicated role models leading powerful, practical, and honest conversations with the children.
Topics included:
Talent development and career progression
Health, well-being, and hygiene
Sexual health, pregnancy and HIV/AIDS awareness
The dangers of drugs and crime
Economic opportunities and challenges
How to break the cycle of poverty
Making disciplined, informed life decisions
In a community where drug abuse and poverty have affected too many young lives, these sessions were more than just talks - they were wake-up calls, reality checks, and powerful reminders of the possibilities ahead.
The children left inspired, informed, and more confident in their future paths.
With Thanks to Our Supporters
This year’s tournament and empowerment sessions would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of our UK Rotary partners.
