Join Our Dry January Challenge

A New Year brings fresh motivation — a chance to reset, refocus, and build healthy habits. This January, we’re inviting you to turn your commitment into something even more powerful: supporting children’s education and nourishment in Kenya.

By taking part in Dry January, you can transform the money you don’t spend on alcohol into life-changing support for students at our projects, simply by fundraising as you go.

Whether you’re ditching wine, skipping the cocktails, or swapping pints for sparkling water, every bit you save can help a child learn, grow and thrive.

How to Take Part: Your Dry January Fundraising Guide

It takes just three simple steps:

1 - Set Up Your Fundraising Page

Choose whichever platform works best for you:

Option A – JustGiving

  1. Visit JustGiving.com

  2. Click “Start Fundraising”

  3. Select ‘Personal Challenge’

  4. Choose “Dry January Challenge” or write your own title

  5. Choose The Boo Charity as the beneficiary

  6. Share your page with friends and family

Option B – Facebook Fundraiser

  1. Go to ‘Fundraisers’ on Facebook

  2. Click Create Fundraiser

  3. Select Charity

  4. Search for The Boo Charity

  5. Add your goal and description

  6. Share widely!

Both options allow your supporters to donate directly and securely and you get to watch your impact grow throughout the month.

2 - Spread the word

As you move through the month, keep talking about your challenge. Share your progress on social media, message friends and family, and even mention it at work to encourage sponsorship.

A great approach is to ask people to “donate a drink” - the cost of whatever they might usually spend. Even small contributions add up quickly and make a meaningful difference.

  • A bottle of wine (£10) = one month of school meals for a student

  • A crate of beer (£20) = one month of education for a student

  • A bottle of champagne (£50) = a teacher’s wages for a week

3 - Donate Your Total at the End of January

Once you reach the end of the month (go you!):

Every pound you raise will go straight towards supporting students in Kenya, giving them the chance to learn, eat well, and build brighter futures.

We would love to follow your journey. Please tag us in your social media posts or email updates so we can support you throughout your challenge.
