Success Story: Nancy

Meet Nancy - a talented and highly respected dressmaker, and one of many inspiring success stories to come from the Nyamache Life Skills Centre, sponsored by The Boo Charity.

Nancy graduated in 2020, armed with skills, confidence, and a new sense of possibility. But shortly after completing her training, tragedy struck. Nancy lost her husband in a road traffic accident and was badly injured herself. Thankfully, she made a full recovery and with extraordinary strength, she continued to build a future for her family.

Now a widowed mother of three, Nancy has grown her dressmaking business into a thriving local enterprise. She is known throughout her community for her skill, creativity, and warm, friendly approach. Her work not only supports her own family, but also enables her to make clothes that other community members can sell to support their families too - creating a ripple effect of opportunity.

The education received at our life skills centre helped her to turn hardship into strength and skill into independence.

This rural community is facing significant economic challenges. Introducing skilled professionals like Nancy is helping the area grow, flourish, and inspire the next generation. Children see role models in their own neighbourhood, and the progress is both beautiful and powerful.

Boo Charity continues to transform lives by standing beside people living in poverty and giving them the tools to build lasting change.

During her interview, Nancy shared:

“If it wasn’t for Nyamache Life Skills, I do not know how my family would survive. When I was at school, my parents could not afford to educate or feed me. At Nyamache I was provided for. Now I am successful and supporting my mother and father. I will be forever grateful.”
